Due to a seismic design, most of the structures have endured the earthquakes that the city has suffered being the best-preserved building so far.
Female founders arrived in 1725 from Convento de Capuchinas in Madrid; being the last religious order located in the city. The construction started in 1731 and was finished in 1736. The Superior Architect of the City, Diego de Porres, designed it. The construction was constituted by a temple and a monastery but only the last one remains intact from the earthquake in 1773 and it was abandoned due to a fear of new earthquakes.
