Painted Ceramics
|
These are famous for both the forms as well as the final coloring of the pieces. Especially well known are the realistic looking miniature birds, fruits, and vegetables, as well as money boxes that are lovingly created by the artisans' hands. A nearby town, El Tejar, supplies the raw clay. After the pieces are shaped, they are then dried in the shade. Later, they are baked in pine wood ovens, and finally painted by hand. Each piece is an original, following family tradition. You may buy these at various shops throughout the city as well as right in the craft market. It is also possible to buy them directly from the craftsman at his house. Addresses are listed at the end of this section. |
