The Posadas
|
As part of the religious traditions celebrated before Christmas, the Posadas begin on December 16 th . They are small processions representing the pilgrimage of Virgin Mary and Saint Joseph before the birth of Baby Jesus. The figures are accompanied by groups of children singing carols and playing music on chinchines and turtle shells. The Posadas and the Nativity scenes were first organized in Asis by Saint Francis. Hermano Pedro de Betancourt began this tradition in La Antigua. |
